"Czech Glass was only made between 1918 and 1938 after that the country was to become known as The Czech Republic." Glass works that are signed made in Czechoslovakia were only made during that era.

Jeweled metal frame with colored salt trays

Four richly colored intaglio salt trays nest in the arms of this jeweled and gilded metal basket made in Czechoslovakia in the 1920's. Such a large holder is not commonly found today, and all the its jewels are present. The colored glass trays have the classical motifs usual to Czech intaglios of this period, and are easily identifiable by their brilliant colors. Two of the trays may be replacements, as they are of different scenes, but the presentation is very colorful and desirable. The basket measures 4" to the top of its jeweled handle, and 5-1/2" at the widest. Some slight waves may be seen in the handle's loop and tray holders, but there are no distracting distortions and no cracks or repairs. The base is marked with worn letters "Made in Czechoslovakia" as pictured.. The glass trays have no chips or cracks, and no apparent grinding. They are 2-1/4"x1-1/2"x1/2". This makes a very showy presentation and is highly desirable as collectible early Czech artisanship. ID=ANTQ24
